This project was my first time really working on a full animation as it's own standalone project. Despite the tedious nature of working with hand-drawn animation, I ended up pretty satisfied with the end product. Although it did not turn out entirely as I envisioned, and I would have much preferred to not be barred by a time constraint, I enjoyed watching my work come to fruition and to create something that felt worthwhile to put together. As a sequential artist, more generally I think I have taken away new and important nuances in the way that I think about visual storytelling, and how I might plan similar projects in the future.
In terms of larger projects, I also feel that this project has set me up well for planning and working more efficiently, as I got the most accomplished whenever those aspects of my work were streamlined. I do however, wish that it was a lot cleaner, smoother, and put together, which is also likely a consequence of being constrained for time. As far as the story it told, I believe I was able to portray the gist of it, but I wish that the scribble monster fighting was a bit clearer, longer, and more entertaining. I learned after the fact that if I had changed brush sizes it would not have taken me nearly as long, but would not have been as consistent stylistically. By the end of it, I think I noticed this was the case for some of my expressions and movements as well, but now I am better equipped in terms of what to look out for and what choices to make in the interest of time and aesthetics.
